I have decided to create my own Blog. I have always enjoyed writing and this idea has been bouncing around in my head for a while. As usual, it takes an event to provide a catalyst for action. My wife Rose, my son Nathan and I were having a discussion around the dinner table the other day. Somehow we got around to the subject of staying in touch with others. It was pointed out to me that I am not good at that at all. And you know what, I could not argue with that assertion.
There is plenty of indisputable scientific evidence that “connections to others” is one of the most critical factors to a healthy and happy life. Having friends, a group of people you talk with, being engaged with others in some venture is something our minds thrive on. I tend to be a pretty private person. I enjoy quiet. My running provides time for solitude. I can always find excuses for not going out, for not contacting someone, for avoiding a social situation. And I am happy.
But the conversation with Rose and Nate combined with my interest in writing. It was the Universe’s way of telling me – one more time – that I need to move outside my personal comfort zone. So here I go. It is a small step, but every journey begins with one small step.
So I hope you will become a “regular” at my Blog. I don’t exactly know what I’ll write about all of the time. Sometimes I’ll be profound. Sometimes I’ll (try to) be funny. I’ll try not to be “preachy”. And you won’t get a lot of outrageous opinions or conspiracy theories. Hopefully it will be a fun way to stay in touch.
Comments, criticisms, witticisms (to quote Joe Schenk) are appreciated. Because a single voice speaking is not a conversation, I hope you will join me on occasion.
