Showing Up = Meaningful

Rose and I just finished our first live book talk, at the Blacksburg VA Community Center. We had great turnout and lots of excellent questions from the audience. We even had some special guests! The parents of one of the helicopter crew members, Beau James, drove 90 minutes to come see us and listen to the talk.

It meant a lot to us to have them in attendance. It gave us the opportunity to thank them. We were honored to tell everyone at the talk about Beau’s role in my rescue. Imagine how proud his parents must have felt to know their son had played an important part in saving my life. It also added to the presentation, bringing a new angle to the story for the audience members.

There is a small lesson in there. Sometimes just showing up can be meaningful in ways that you could never know. We all have the opportunity to be there for someone else. It’s often easy to think “I don’t have the time” or “They’ll never notice”. That may be true. But it is equally true that you might make a difference.

Who can you show up for?

BTW, we are starting to book more events. Check out upcoming events and buy the book at www.BelvoirPress.com
